Alstom - Phu My Energy Services Joint Venture established (23/05/2012)
With a purpose of operating a modern gas turbine repair center at Phu My Power Center (Tan Thanh district), the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and Alstom Group (France) signed an agreement on the establishment of Alstom - Phu My Energy Services Joint Venture in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in the field of gas turbine equipment recovery. This is the first gas turbine repair center in Vietnam and also the first workshop of Alstom in Asia in this field.
Bio-fuel use to be compulsory by 2015 (21/05/2012)
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on Tuesday ordered the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) to make the schedule to use bio-fuel compulsorily by next year. Car and motorbike drivers in big cities should start buying petrol mixed with bio-fuel E5 by the end of next year, said the MoIT. The cities included in the pilot programme will be Ha Noi, HCM City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Quang Ngai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The use of the bio-fuel will become compulsory for every city and province by June 2015.
Vietnam’s second satellite launched into the orbit (18/05/2012)
An Ariane 5 missile brought Vietnam’s Vinasat-2 and Japan’s JCSAT-13 satellites into the orbit, from Kourou launching ground in Guyana. Watching the launch at the headquarters of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) in Hanoi, PM Nguyen Tan Dung confirmed that the successful launching of Vinasat-2 is a significant event that marked a great move of Vietnam’s telecom industry.
