Vietnam, Netherlands join forces on climate change (15/08/2011)

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai chaired a meeting of the Vietnam Subcommittee of the Vietnam-Netherlands Intergovernmental Committee on Thursday to fulfill duties under the bilateral strategic cooperation agreement on climate change adaptation and water management.
The purpose of the establishment of the intergovernmental committee is to develop and fulfill the agreement signed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Dutch counterpart Peter Balkenende in October 2010.

New REDD project is taking root (18/07/2011)

A local carbon forest investor is stirring Vietnam’s carbon credit market.
Hanoi-based Vietnam Carbon Exchange Limited (VCE) and its partner Australian Voluntary Credits Limited (VCL) told VIR they completed a site survey and were implementing project document design, for a carbon-absorbing Reduced Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) project in Bach Ma National Park in central Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam provinces.

Local oil refinery repair firm in deal with foreign companies (12/07/2011)

Singapore-based companies have inked cooperation agreements with PetroVietnam Maintenance and Repair Joint Stock Co. (PVMC) to assist in consultancy, strategy and technology fields for the local company. KBC Advanced Technology Pte Ltd. agreed to cooperate with PVMC on strategies for maintenance, training, technology transfer and services in petrochemical and oil refining, while Mun Siong Engineering Limited will help with maintenance and repair services in line with the agreements struck in Vung Tau on Saturday.

VN to sign water project credit agreement with WB (02/07/2011)

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has entrusted the Governor of State Bank of Việt Nam to sign a credit agreement and related documents for an urban water supply and waste water treatment with the World Bank.

US supports Vietnam’s IT development (16/06/2011)

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) supports the project to turn Vietnam into a strong information technology (IT) nation and promote the application of e-government. 
This was confirmed by representatives from DOC at a reception for Minister of Information and Communication Le Doan Hop during his visit to the US from June 9-14.

German helps study wind energy in Vietnam (03/06/2011)

A workshop to introduce two handbooks namely, “Information on the Wind Energy Sector of Vietnam” and “Guidelines on Wind Power Planning in Vietnam” will be held  on June 3 in Hanoi. Information on the “Wind Energy Sector in Vietnam” presents the legal framework and incentives given to potential investors. It also includes important information on investment procedures and financing possibilities.

Strategy on climate change to be done early June (13/05/2011)

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will submit a strategy on climate change to the Government for final approval by early June this year.
Deputy Minister Tran Hong Ha told the Daily on Tuesday that the draft strategy would be completed this month after collecting suggestions from international and domestic scientists.
Scientists and environmentalists in northern and central provinces will gather at a seminar in Hanoi next week to discuss the  strategy on adapting to negative impacts of climate change for the country within the next 50 years, he said.  

Swiss to support green energy drive (12/05/2011)

Switzerland will provide Viet Nam with non-refundable aid worth US$2.43 million to help implement the Renewable Energy Development Project (REDP).
