On April 16, 2024, the Center for
Information and Application of Science and Technology - Department of Science
and Technology organized a report on "Intellectual
property, methods of commercializing research results and negotiating
intellectual property transfer contracts”. Attending the report was Mr.
Tran Giang Khue - Head of the Southern Representative Office - Intellectual
Property Office of Vietnam as the main reporter, along with nearly 100
delegates who are leaders, lecturers, and students from Colleges and
Universities; High School teachers; officials and leaders of agencies and
organizations with research and application of science and technology in the
province.
To celebrate World Intellectual Property Day (April 26), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) with the theme "Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals: Building the Future common through innovation” to raise awareness among youth about the role of innovation and intellectual property in contributing to achieving sustainable development goals.
The report is to spread the spirit of innovation as well as raising awareness and fostering skills in using intellectual property tools to serve scientific research activities, promoting the spirit of innovation and startup in institutes, schools, agencies and organizations that has research and application of science and technology in the province. At the report, Mr. Tran Giang Khue presented and shared the following contents: (1) Identifying and registering intellectual property in scientific research activities; (2) Intellectual property management in universities and research units; (3) Instructions for searching and exploiting science and technology information; (4) Methods of commercializing scientific research results; (5) Successfully negotiate a technology transfer contract.
At the report, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Lien, Deputy Head of Science and Technology Management Department, Department of Science and Technology implemented Plan No. 56/KH-UBND dated March 8, 2024 of the People's Committee on implementing Resolution No. 04/ 2023/NQ-HDND dated July 14, 2023 of the Provincial People's Council regulating spending levels to support protection registration for inventions, industrial designs and trademarks; Register for protection and recognition of new plant varieties in the province under the Intellectual Property Development Program until 2030.
