A ceremony was held in Hanoi on October 3 to honour the
“scientists of farmers” and present the awards for winners of the tenth
"Technical Innovation for Farmers" contest.
The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Propaganda and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of Vietnam Farmers’ Association Luong Quoc Doan affirmed that over many past years, the programme honouring the “scientists of farmers” and the "Technical Innovation for Farmers" contest have sparked a movement for research, exploration, experimentation, and innovation in applying scientific and technological models to agricultural production and rural economic development that align with local realities and leverage the agricultural potential of each locality.
Many research projects, innovative solutions, and technological products from scientists have been widely applied, bringing significant benefits to the agriculture, rural development and farmers.
The leader of the Vietnam Farmers' Association warmly praised 56 scientists of the farmers and 24 farmers receiving awards for the 2024 "Technical Innovation for Farmers" contest. He emphasised that the honour and recognition of the innovative achievements and applications of these individuals should be a foundation for new beginnings and plans for each innovative scientist and farmer, contributing to spreading confidence, pride, and positive inspiration to other farmers and scientists nationwide.
Among 56 scientists of farmers honoured in 2024, there are 37 Professors, Associate Professors, Doctors, and Masters; and 19 individuals with university degrees and other qualifications. Notably, Vo Van Ut (born 1961, a farmer from Long An Province) received recognition for his outstanding inventions and solutions, including the "Corn Seed Sowing Machine", "Sesame Sowing Tool", and "Peanut Harvesting Machine".
