On August 17, an inspection delegation held by the DoST checked the progress of a project, namely "Scaling up the model of electronic information serving for BR-VT socio-economic development " . The project has been chaired by Eng. Nguyen Kim Truong, the Director of Center of Informatics and S&T Information and carried out during 15 months (from December 2006 to February 2008).
The inspection delegation has gone on location and checked installation and operation of three informatics stations which were established in three communes, including Tan Hung (Ba Ria Town), Chau Pha (Tan Thanh district) and Dat do (Dat Do district). There have been such a total five stations in five communes chosen to carry out the project. In the period from March to July 2007, working group for the project completed quite a plenty of work, such as providing responsible officials of five communes with basic trainings in how to operate a machine and how to upload a news on the internet, etc…; installing equipment as well as connecting internet are to allow stations to be operated practically; collecting data, editing and updating information for website pages of communes, handing electric library with technique information about agricultural produce, medical, culture – society issues, etc over to communes. For the rate of progress to carry out the project, including its quantity and quality as well as course of time has reached the requirement at that inspected time, evaluated by the inspection delegation. Local Leaders in the communes where Informatics Stations are located proposed their suggestion and desire of being technically supported and trained in order that the operation and maintenance activity achieve efficiency that can practically serve for local people. The inspection delegation and the working group recorded their opinions and consider it as reference. Based on it DoST will lodge suitable suggestions with the related sectors and departments as well as provincial leaders in order to contribute to speeding up the socio-economic development in that local areas of the province.
