On the day of 15 December 2008, the Fruit-tree Research Center in the Southeast Region co-ordinated with the National Agriculture and Aquaculture Promotion Center to organize a Festival of Competition “Good seed-jackfruit in the Southeast Provinces 2008”.

The Festival has chosen 14 samples of saffron seed-jackfruit from typical seedlings of six years old and over, with stable productivities, beautiful fruits, being of equal yellow, no worm-eaten and wild diseases, dry segments, ripe at the same time… from 50 gardens in the provincial areas of Binh Duong, Bình Phuoc, Dong Nai and Baria-Vungtau.

As a result, seed-jackfruit MĐ 94 – 08 from the garden of Mr. Giap Duong Phu, Xuyen Moc District (Baria-Vungtau) won the first prize; the two-second prizes belonged to two seed-jackfruits MĐ 87 – 08 and MĐ 81 – 08 from the garden of Mr Nguyen Hoang Quan and Mr. Vinh Minh Hai in Xuyen Moc District (Baria-Vungtau). Besides, the Board of Examiners gave 7 consolation prizes for seed-jackfruits of MD 10 – 08; MD 01 – 08; MD 85 – 08; MD 58 – 08; MD 08 – 08… to the gardens in Dong Nai, Baria-Vungtau, Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc Provinces.
