The HCM City Pasteur Institute has successfully made the first A/H1N1 vaccine batch, according to the institute’s vice director, Dr. Cao Thi Bao Van on November 5.

The institute employed the most modern vaccine production technology available – growing the viruses on cells.

This technology enables producers to control the whole process automatically. Vaccine produced by this technology is seen as much safer than other methods.

However, Dr Van said that this batch of vaccines has only been produced on laboratory scale. Researchers need to test it before producing it en mass.
