Year-end meeting of 2010 Scientific and Technological Activities and implementation of 2011 plans at district level organized by Department of Science and Technology (DoST) at DoST office on March 10, 2011. Participating in the meeting were leaders of DoST, heads of economic/economic and infrastructure divisions from all districts/town/city of the province.

In 2010, scientific and technological activities at district level focused on the works of standardization, measurement and quality control, scientific and technological information and organization of scientific commmittees at district level.

- Regarding measurement and quality control work going out inspection tours about measure devices is implemented frequently and efficiently. Series of inspection tours have been done and a large number of measure devices have been checked at several districts, such as Vung tau city, Ba ria town… Besides, several intensive inspection tours about each special subject in terms of announced quality of goods and prepackaged goods have also carried out in Vung tau… which contributes to performing measures against counterfeit and fraudulent goods and out of date products in business in Vung tau market... Furthermore, operation of control balance stations has also contributed to anti-infringement of measurement. Most of the stations have brought into play the efficiency, such as 5 stations in Vung tau, 7 stations in Ba ria …

- Regarding scientific and technological information various forms of information, news have met needs for the realities of socio-economic development in the province The Centre for Informatics and Scientific and Technological Information has monthly issued new-letters, namely Dissemination of Knowledge, Scientific Information and leaders and Intellectual Property that is sent to leaders of communes and districts and enterprises around the province. Moreover, 40 Training courses to train trainees from Association of Agriculture, Communist Youth Union to exploit information have been organized… Especially; the Centre cooperated with Xuyên mộc Association of Agriculture to organize successfully a Scientific and Technological Information Propagandist Competition. At the end of 2010, Large Scale Project for Station Model of Scientific and Technological Information of Electronics was implemented in 13 communes.

- Regarding organization of performing Scientific Committee activities at district level so far, there have been 8 out of 8 districts, town and city established and strengthened their Scientific and Technological Committees. These Committees meet regularly to consider and offer suggestion to technical improvement initiatives which has initially contributed to enhance scientific and technological play in practice.

- In 2010, Department of Science and Technology organized training courses on state management of science and technology, application of scientific and technological achievements, such as precautionary measures against thunderstorm and thunderbolt…

Apart form gained results as mentioned above, scientific and technological activities have still faced with many weaknesses, such as, often displacement of staff responsible for scientific and technological tasks, measurement and quality control work, maintenance of  Stations of Scientific and Technological Information of Electronics.

Based on yearly scientific and technological plan assigned by Provincial People Committee and given assessment of activity results, in 2011, implementation of scientific and technological tasks at district level will mainly be focused on  strengthening the performance of scientific and technological committee activities,  works of standardization, measurement and quality control, works of propaganda and scientific and technological information, selection of applicable projects to be implemented in practice at district level..
