The Government chief made the comment at his meeting with the UK’s Minister of State for International Development, Alan Duncan, in Hà Nội the same day.

He hoped that Việt Nam and the UK would continue to promote bilateral ties in an effective, sustainable and long-term manner for the interests of the two sides, with priority placed on economic, trade, investment, educational cooperation.

Both sides should work to accelerate the opening of a direct air route to facilitate dual transport.

Extending thanks to the UK’s official development assistance, PM Dũng affirmed that the capital source has been fruitfully used by Việt Nam in such fields as infrastructure, education, healthcare, climate change response.

The UK is now one of Việt Nam’s biggest trade and investment partners. PM Dũng pledged to create more favorable conditions for British investors to do business in Việt Nam.

For his part, Mr. Alan Duncan noted the effective implementation of joint projects in Việt Nam.

Besides economic cooperation, the UK would continue to expand its assistance to Việt Nam to climate change adaptation, sea level rise, and HIV/AIDS prevention, he said.

He also revealed that the Department for International Development will work with some Vietnamese relevant ministries and agencies to discuss new cooperative areas for the coming years.
