An exciting year for foreign economic activity

2011 was a year full of challenges and difficulties for the global economy owing to the economic recession and financial crisis. The domestic economic situation was not satisfactory, high inflation, unstable macroeconomics ... However, in 2011, Ba Ria - Vung Tau took place many positive diplomatic activities, particularly the field of foreign economy was pretty exciting.

It can be said that the year 2011 was quite successful in the foreign economic sector of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, many organizations and foreign business delegations visited Ba Ria - Vung Tau to learn and seek for investment opportunities. International economic groups and regions still chose Ba Ria - Vung Tau as an attractive destination, situation of foreign investment attraction into the province over the past year achieved positive results. As reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs, in 2011 there were 22 international delegations came and worked in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Mr. Ho Van Nien, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee stated that Ba Ria - Vung Tau was calling for investment in supporting industries (SI) and port services. Therefore, foreign activities of the province in this period were also aimed at this purpose.

Mr. Akihiko Takashima, President of International Relations of Kansai Business Federation (Japan), said, "Ba Ria - Vung Tau has many potential advantages for economic development, especially in the industrial and port sectors. Economic characteristics of the province are almost identical with our Kansai region, so Kansai businesses desired to have investment opportunities in the province".

In 2011, BR-VT province lured 25 foreign invested projects with a total investment of about USD 942 million, the total export turnover of foreign enterprises reached nearly USD2 billion, up nearly 51% over the year 2010, number of international tourist arrivals also hit the figure of 362,000 participants.

In the past year, Ba Ria - Vung Tau also attracted the attention of many foreign media agencies came, spread the news, and introduced potentials, advantages and development achievements of the province in order to release advertisement reportages of image, culture, tourism and people of Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

The websites are regularly updated economic information, trade, fisheries, legal status to support domestic and foreign enterprises, organizations.
