Approving the subject “Current status and measures towards schizophrenia in the public of Ba Ria – Vung Tau”

On 14 September 2012, Technology & Science Department of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province organized a council to approve the subject “Current status and measures towards schizophrenia in the public of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province”, presented by Doctor CKI. Ngo Thanh Phong (Ba Ria – Vung Tau Mental Hospital).

Schizophrenia is a mental disease, with complex biological changes, strongly impacted by social mental environment. schizophrenia is a public disease in the world and in Vietnam, the number accounts for 0,3 - 1% population. This disease can be treated and reduced if detecting it soon and having reasonable and timely treatment.

Performing the project will evaluate the rate of schizophrenia in the public, and then it is the basis to build treatment measures for schizophrenia in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province. This helps to cut down moving mental patients to upper hospitals, and help patients to fall in line with their family and society. Therefore, the Council agrees to perform the subject.
