Vietnam - Israel: Signing the Protocol on Science and Technology Cooperation

On April 24, 2013 in Hanoi Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) chaired , coordinated with relevant Ministries and sectors to sign the Protocol on the establishment of Inter-governmental Committee for Science and Technology Cooperation and other fields between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of Israeli State. Attending the signing ceremony was Minister of Science and Technology Nguyễn Quân; Ms. Eilon Shahar Meirav - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israeli State and representative leaders of relevant Ministries and sectors.

Delivering a speech in the signing ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology affirmed that Vietnam’s Party and Government has always paid special attentions and given priority to the S&T development, considered S&T as the motivation for the economic development of each nation; S&T has increasingly affirmed the key position and role and thorough impacts on all social aspects, then gradually improved the life of people on all aspects. With spirits of thorough integration into the regional and global S&T, Vietnam’s Government has been formulating strategies on S&T development so that by 2020, Vietnam will become an industrial country towards modern directions. However, in order to achieve the above objective, the international cooperation on S&T has played an important role, creating forums for academic exchanges and new cooperation foundation based on practical potentials and demands of each country, gradually creating breakthroughs in S&T. The Minister also believed that the signing of the Protocol between the Governments of the two countries on economic cooperation, especially S&T field will create good opportunities for scientists of the two countries to meet, exchange research experience, then projects will be formulated in each field the two parties are interested in, contributing to the economic development of the two countries. Delivering a speech in the signing ceremony, Ms. Eilon Shahar Meirav also said in the current world situation, S&T has had thorough impacts on all aspects of the social life, creating competitive strengths for the economies in the world,… the Protocol will be the guideline, good initial starting point for cooperative relations for the two parties move towards to common objectives; look for cooperation opportunities especially in fields of S&T, trade, economy and some other fields. It is known that over the past time, Israel has shifted its economy into the high-technology one. With its significant potentials on S&T, especially in fields of life science, high-tech agriculture, biology, electronics, telecommunications and some technologies, Israel has currently become a nation which exports computer software products, chemicals, agricultural products,…
