Viet Nam has become the 143rd member of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO), under the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), announced the Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) on November 25.
CANN, a nonprofit private organization, is responsible for coordinating the global Internet's systems of unique identifiers and, in particular, ensuring its stable and secure operation. This work includes coordination of the IP address spaces and assignment of address blocks to regional Internet registries and issues directly affected to countries, including Viet Nam. As the member of ccNSO, Viet Nam joins in researching and establishing policies of ICANN and proposing timely initiatives to protect its benefits. In the future, the VNNIC will participate in monitoring the global Internet and strengthen international cooperation to guarantee national benefits.
