In the afternoon of September 15, 2015, outside the 59th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienne, Austria took place the signing ceremony between Vietnam Agency for Nuclear Radiation and Safety (VARANS) and Korea Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC). Director Vương Hữu Tấn and Mr. Un Chul Lee, NSSC’s President signed together the Memorandum of Understanding.
Participating in the signing ceremony were Mr. Moo Hwan Kim, President of Korea
Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS); Mr. Jae Young Son, President of Korea
Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation (KINAC); Mr. Jin Joo Ham, Director of the
Department of International Cooperation, NSSC; Mr. Nguyễn Mạnh Tuấn, Minister
Counselor of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam in the Republic of Austria and
Ms. Trần Bích Ngọc, Deputy Director of the Department of International
Cooperation - MOST.
According to the MOU, the two sides would cooperate to share information,
exchange experts in the field of radiation and nuclear safety, in which the
focus would be on key topics as nuclear safety, security and inspection,
control of import and export activities of nuclear related goods, radiation
protection and incident preparation, security assessment, assessment of entity
protection system, safety inspection of radiation and nuclear units,
environmental monitoring, human resource development and education and training
activities.
The MOU would be the basis for implementing cooperation activities of the two
nuclear regulation agencies./.
