Review provincal research project “The history of development of Science & Technology in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province”

On November 13th, 2015, The Department of Science & Technology held a Advisory Board to review the provincially funded research project “The history of development of Science & Technology in BR-VT province”. The study is lead by Dr. Ho Son Diep, lecturer of Ho Chi Minh University of Social Science & Humanity and Mr. Nguyen Kim Truong, Deputy Director of BR-VT province Department of Science & Technology .

On November 13th, 2015, The Department of Science & Technology held a Advisory Board to review the provincially funded research project “The history of development of Science & Technology in BR-VT province”. The study is lead by Dr. Ho Son Diep, lecturer of Ho Chi Minh University of Social Science & Humanity and Mr. Nguyen Kim Truong, Deputy Director of BR-VT province Department of Science & Technology .

The research aimed to reconstruct the history of the formation and development of science and technology in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, evaluate achievements and limitations of science and technology in each historical period and draw important lessons from past experiences of developing science and technology throughout history.

According to the summary report, BR-VT has many advantages in developing science and technology. It is endowed with diverse natural resources, hardworking and creative workforce, creativity, modern infrastructure. Those factors were fundamental to the rapid and sustainable development of social and economic environment in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province in recent years.

Through 40 years of development (1975-2015), Ba Ria-Vung Tau Science & Technology has reached remarkable achievements. More than 300 provincial level science & technology research projects and more than 1,000 sector and local level research projects were completed. Research areas span over a wide range of fields, from natural sciences, technology, engineering to agriculture, forestry, fish-breeding, healthcare, education, social science and humanity. Finding from those researches has provided scientific basis to serve local governments in issuing important policies to form the provincial’s strategic development plans. Researches outcome also supply scientific facts to help building development schemes for specific sectors, help changing BR-VT into a bright spot in the Southern key economic quadrangle of the country.

The research was reviewed and suggested additional editing by members of the Advisory Board. Finally, the committee agreed to recommend the project for final approval by the Department of Science and Technology.
