On the afternoon of 06/8/2018, in Vung Tau City, Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in collaboration with the Startup Vietnam Foundation held a conference “The roles of mentors and angel investors in startup development”. The conference aimed to introduce knowledge and skills to mentors and investors in Ba Ria – Vung Tau. 

Attending the conference were Mr. Le Van Minh - Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Mr. Tran Duy Tam Thanh - Head of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Innovation and Startup Office, Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc - Director of Innovation Capital Management.and more than 50 mentors, investors, business owners and representatives of government agencies.

At the conference, Mr. Tony Wheeler, consultant, investor, innovation specialist, Managing Director of Imagine Consulting Group International from Australia shared about newest technology trends and his experiences in startup investment and in building Queensland startup ecosystem.

Two startups presented their demo pitches at the conferences to make cases for feedback and evaluation from investors. The two are Marisol, a project that builds specialized LED light for fishing boats which is founded by Mr. Tran Thai Son and Cacao Binon founded by Mr. Le Van Thanh.

The demo pitches were then followed by a panel with Mr. Tony Wheeler and Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc discussing current status of Vietnam startup ecosystem and angel and venture investing. Participants had opportunities to discussed with experts about tips for startup evaluation.
