On the afternoon of April 25, 2019, the Department of Science and Technology organized an Advisory Council to evaluate and accept the project “Building a pilot model to apply hydroponic technology to greening the office at the Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau”. Chairman of the Council is Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of Department of Science and Technology. The project is headed by Mrs. Ma Thi Anh Thu. The Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances is the lead agency.

The objectives of the project are to research, apply and plant experimental models of green walls by hydroponic technology in order to green and improve the work environment at the workplace.

After installation, the Center has conducted monitoring, evaluation and completion of the technical processes of planting and taking care of trees on the green walls that are suitable for the lack of light environment. Some trees on these green walls have a high adaptability with the conversion from a completely outdoor environment to the indoor environment by using the Eco N1 clean soils and the use of nutrient solutions. Their main components are multi- and trace minerals to provide nutrition for trees. In addition, the project applied an automatic drip irrigation system to save the amount of water and the number of labors.

After 5 months of planting until now, the trees (Aglaonema Red, Dieffenbachia picta, Aglaonema rotundum pink, Epipremnum aureum) are adaptable, grow well as well as are less rotten. Additionally, roots are less waterlogged. Some Epipremnum aureum trees began to develop vines. Aglaonema Red, Dieffenbachia picta began to have new trees. Initially, the Center has successfully researched the adaptation of a number of plants on the green walls after six months of implementing the project. Moreover, it has adjusted some ingredients to create a specific nutrient solution that is suitable for the trees on the green wall.

The Council evaluated that the project achieved its requirements.
