Deployment the pilot application of warning technology, early detection of swirling ponds and Rip current in Bai Sau area of Vung Tau City

On May 12, 2020, the Department of Science and Technology organized an Advisory Council to evaluate and accept the project “Piloting the application of warning technology, early detection of swirling ponds and Rip current in Bai Sau area of ​​Vung Tau City”. Chairman of the Council is Mr. Đỗ Hữu Hiền - Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology. The project is headed by Assoc. Prof. Mai Thế Công. The Vietnam Netherlands Center for Water and Environment is the lead agency.

After 1,5 years of implementation, the project has analyzed and interpreted the ability to apply warning technology, detecting the swirling pond / rip current in conditions of Vietnam in general and Vung Tau City in particular. In addition, it has analyzed and generalized the properties, basic characteristics, laws of formation and movement over time of swirling ponds. The project also establishes a testing system for pond warning systems; decodes video cameras and install them on workstations, successfully runs a pond detection test. Additionally, the project successfully operates the system of testing warning swirling ponds .

The project is able to reducing risks for visitors when they swim in the Bai Sau area, raising public awareness and visitors about the swirling ponds problem, promoting the image of Vung Tau city. This has a very positive impact on building a safe tourism city image, contributing to boosting the tourism and service economy, ensuring employment as well as improving the quality of life and well-being. society.

The Council evaluated that the project achieved its requirements. However, it is necessary to complete the topic according to the Council's comments.
