Implementation of Decision No. 3219/QD-UBND, dated October 22, 2020 of the People's Committee of BR-VT province about approving the list of provincial S&T tasks for research topics and pilot production projects to be implemented in 2021 of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. On the afternoon of June 23, 2021, the Department of Science and Technology held an online meeting of the Advisory Council to select organizations and individuals to implement the pilot production project "Building a vegetable value chain model that meets VietGAP standards in BR-VT province". Mr. Nguyen Cong Danh - Director of Department of Science and Technology is the chairman of the Council chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, the project leader presents a brief explanation of the tasks, with the main objectives: assessing the current situation of vegetable production and consumption in BR-VT province, building a model of vegetable value chain meeting VietGAP standards with traceability to ensure economic efficiency increased by at least 15% compared to traditional production.

The production of safe vegetables with VietGAP certification and the linkage in product consumption help consumers to trace the origin of products, build clear trademarks, ensure food quality and safety, create peace of mind for consumers and producers. Products with VietGAP certification, packaging, label and QR codes will have many competitive advantages in the domestic and foreign markets. Moreover, it will limit the use of chemicals in agriculture, increase the use of environmentally friendly fertilizers and biological products, actively contribute to environmental protection, maintain and improve soil fertility, protect the health of workers and consumers.

The members of the Council evaluate the presentation according to each criterion in terms of research contenst, approach and research methods; efficiency and plans for transferring research results, professional capacity of organizations and individuals performing tasks.

After implementing the evaluation vote, the Science and Technology Council unanimously selected the Branch of Vietnam National University of Forestry in Dong Nai as the lead agency to implement the project and Dr. Mai Hai Chau is the project leader. At the same time, the Council requested the leader and the group to edit and add some research contents according to the opinions of the Council members to complete the presentation .
