The conference aimed to raise awareness about the application of the circular economy model, the advantages and outstanding benefits of this model that can bring to the sustainable development of Con Dao. The conference attracted the participation and comments of experts from the Institute for Circular Economy Development  - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the Management Board of Con Dao National Park, Vietnam International Union for Conservation of Nature, leaders of departments under the People's Committee of Con Dao district. Especially, the workshop recognized many comments from representatives of businesses, production and business facilities and representatives of residential areas in Con Dao district.

At the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Hong Quan introduced the theory of circular economy and practical experience, successfully applied in some typical examples with natural, social and geographical condition similar to Con Dao, and benefits of circular economy model in sustainable development orientation in Con Dao district.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Danh shared the views and orientations of the Party and State on circular economy development, green growth goals, sustainable development, protection and replication of biodiversity natural resources in the new period. He also emphasized the viewpoints, programs, plans and actions of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of BR-VT province, specifically, Notice of Conclusion No. 288-TB/TU dated April 29, 2021 on the implementation of the domestic water plant project and the development of  the circular economy model in Con Dao district and Document No. 7685 /UBND dated June 29, 2021 on agreeing to the policy of developing a project and hiring a consultant to make the project "Research and application of the circular economy model for sustainable socio-economic development in Con Dao district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in the period of 2021 – 2026”.

He affirmed that: “Through the implementation of the project to apply the circular economy model to Con Dao, on the one hand, it is possible to meet the needs of socio-economic development, on the other hand, it can preserve environmental sanitation, promote cultural and ecological values, proactively responding to environmental changes (climate change, sea level rise) to meet the requirements and policies of sustainable development and green growth. At the same time, it will create many positive changes to promote sustainable growth of the island district, becoming a pioneer island district and a typical model in applying circular economy in the province and the whole country.

The conference received presentations from experts on sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, resource exploitation, climate change, environment, energy,... Research experts from the Institute for Circular Economy Development  presented the initial survey results in the locality. In addition, the workshop also recognized the comments and contributions of businesses and representatives of the residential area in the application of the  circular economy model in Con Dao.

The conference is one of the main activities to be implemented in 2022 of the project "Research and application of circular economy model for sustainable socio-economic development in Con Dao district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in the period of 2022 - 2026".
