Hanoi People’s Committee officially inaugurated the city’s Core Data Centre Infrastructure at the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park on December 6. This milestone marks a significant step in building the city’s core IT infrastructure to support digital transformation and the development of a digital government.

The centre, built on advanced private cloud technology with multi-layer security, offers high performance, safety, and flexibility. Managed by the Hanoi State Data Centre under the Department of Information and Communications, it serves as the backbone for Hanoi’s e-government and digital government initiatives.

Hanoi has adopted an IT service rental model to optimise resources and costs. The infrastructure is hosted at VNPT’s Hoa Lac Data Centre and was implemented by a consortium comprising VNPT, SVTECH, and VinaPhone. Over 300 existing systems were migrated to the new platform in just over four months.

VNPT’s representative highlighted the data centre’s cutting-edge technology, including international-standard six-layer security, ensuring top-notch data safety. The facility is operated 24/7 by highly skilled IT professionals, making it reliable, secure, and scalable for future needs.

Nguyen Viet Hung, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Information and Communications, emphasised the project’s groundbreaking nature, transitioning from self-invested IT infrastructure to a service-based model, which has proven cost-effective and efficient.

Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Ha Minh Hai, underscored the importance of data in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, calling it a “strategic resource” essential for competitiveness, innovation, and community well-being. The Core Data Centre integrates advanced technologies like AI, Big Data, and IoT, providing a secure foundation for public administration and fostering innovation in key sectors such as healthcare, education, and transportation.
