Viet Nam plans to intensify its cooperation in scientific and technological field with Japan through projects to build the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park and a Viet Nam-Japan research institute.
With this aim, a delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology led by Minister Hoang Van Phong made a working visit to Japan from December 9-14.
The delegation had working sessions with officials from Japan’s Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. They visited Osaka, Yokohama, Kawasaki and Nagoya – Japan’s large economic and industrial hubs, and research institutes and production establishments of hi-tech groups like Toshiba, Mitsui and Sharp.
According to Minister Phong, Japanese scientists, businesses and authorities are interested in boosting the bilateral cooperation in sciences and technologies, saying that they wanted to diversify the forms of cooperation.
He said Japanese businesses stressed that technology transfer should be made in parallel with financial investment as this is essential to improve the quality of made-in-Viet Nam products.
Also according to the minister, Japan pledged to speed up its involvement in three important infrastructure projects in Viet Nam, including the North-South Railway Express and Highway and the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.
