The situation of traffic safety at inland waterways and piers are not reliable, particularly in rainstorm seasons. Typically, from Long Son to Vung Tau, from Go Gang to Tan Thanh wharfs are all spontaneous, but not equipped with lifebuoy, even some are not registered, Faced with this real situation, the Department of Transport had to “close” 10 unsafe inland waterways wharfs, simultaneously, conducted localities to manage closely all wharfs, narrow passages, and inland waterways.
There are now 21 narrow passages of rivers, canals and 34 wharfs, harbours, dry docks which are managed by the province.
Among that, because Ben Loi River and Loc An arroyo are very far from the Department of Transport, the Department proposed Xuyen Moc district to manage Ben Loi river and Dat Do district to manage Loc An arroyo; Wharfs, narrow passages of inland waterways of Con Dao district also put forward this district to self-manage.
