Cooperative agreement on nuclear safety inked between VN, US

VietNamNet Bridge - President of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) Dale E. Klein and Director of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety & Control (VARANSAC) Ngo Dang Nhan jointly signed on June 25 a deal on technological information sharing and nuclear safety cooperation.

VietNamNet Bridge - President of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) Dale E. Klein and Director of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety & Control (VARANSAC) Ngo Dang Nhan jointly signed on June 25 a deal on technological information sharing and nuclear safety cooperation.


USNRC and VARANSAC will exchange technological information relating to regulations on nuclear safety and impacts caused by nuclear sites on the surrounding environment. They will also conduct research programs on nuclear safety. USNRC pledged to assist VARANSAC by providing training courses and inviting VARANSAC to join inspections to its nuclear reactors in the
US.

Attending the signing ceremony, Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Nguyễn Xuân Phúc applauded the bilateral cooperation in the aspect of nuclear safety, hoping that the deal will be put into practice soon.


VARANSAC Director Ngo Dang Nhan reiterated that the deal reflects the
US desire to assist VARANSAC to fulfill its nuclear safety and security duties in line with the Law on Nuclear Energy ratified by the Vietnamese National Assembly on June 3, 2008
