VietNamNet Bridge - Phan Nguyen Hong, Honorary Professor of the Hanoi National University has won the International Cosmos Prize 2008, a top award in ecology

VietNamNet Bridge - Phan Nguyen Hong, Honorary Professor of the Hanoi National University has won the International Cosmos Prize 2008, a top award in ecology.
The award was made in recognition of Prof. Hong’s achievements in biological classification and ecology of tropical mangrove forests, which were recognised internationally.
His research projects hold great significance to bio-diversification protection and prevention of the earth’s warming process.
Prof. Hong is a leader in research activities aimed at restoring and preserving mangrove forests in southern
Vietnam , which were destroyed by war or the current development process.
Over his 50-year career, he has contributed markedly to the recovery of mangrove forests and is now a leading researcher in the field in
Asia .
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in November 4 in
Osaka , Japan .
Prof. Hong will be presented with a certificate of merit and award money of 40 million JPY (380,000 USD).
