VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team may be called the Information Safety Agency, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

This agency will assist the Ministry with state management functions on network security and work out policies, regulations and measures to prevent and diminish losses and minimise hacks to the information infrastructure which can paralyse or disturb the national information system.

The recommendation to establish the Information Safety Agency is introduced at a time network security and network crime is increasing.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung agreed in principle on the transformation of the VNCERT into the Information Safety Agency in a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Information and Communications last August.
