This is a great determination of the leading oil and gas enterprise, with a view to augment the budgetary contribution level confronted with the difficult economic situation of the entire country After almost 27 years founded and developed (1981 - 2008), VSP achieved significant milestone.
In 1984, VSP completed and installed successfully the first platform at Bach Ho (White Tiger) field on the territorial waters of Ba Ria – Vung Tau. In 1986, VSP exploited the first oil, brought Vietnam into the list of petroleum exploitation in the international map. In 1997, it exploited the 50 million tons of oil. In 2001, it exploited the 100 million tons of oil. To 2007 July, it exploited the 173 million tons of oil and conducted safely 20billion of associated gas to ashore, which serving power, fertilizer plants and other industrial production enterprises.

In the last 5 months of 2008, although having faced with new difficulties and challenges, responding the emulation movement in production from now on till the end of this year, VSP put forward measures, is ready for overcoming difficulties to strive for 7.65million tons of crude oil, exceeding the plan of 550,000 tons; ensures safety of mining technology, working; reduces incidents and breakdowns in production at the minimum; well perform the program of saving, anti –peculation, extravagance; obtains economic effectivity in activities of production and business.

DSc Hoang Van Quy – Manager of Engineering and Science Research Institute of VSP said that the Institute had just completed an important scientific project called “White Tiger field construction and exploitation technology project”, in which brought out the exploitation output of oil and dissolved gas of White Tiger field until 2025.
The project was approved and appreciated to meet high standard by the National Level Approval Council. With the view to exceed VSP’s production plan for the year 2008, the Institute proposed 9 solutions, among those are very important solutions.
DSc Tran Le Dong, VSP Director affirmed that this emulation movement to exploit 7,650,000 tons of oil in 2008 was significant, carried out in the national economic situation facing with many difficulties. Each further exploited ton of oil expresses the spirit of responsibility of VSP’s officers and employees to the country.
Oil price is currently US$870/to, if having exploited more than 550,000 tons of oil as compared with the year plan, it will increase the State budget by VND7.523 billion. This is not a small contribution of VSP together with the whole country to overcome impending difficulties, to perform successfully the action program of the Government to restrain inflation and gradually stabilize Vietnam’s economics.
By that meaning, VSP will try their best to exploit exceedingly the plan of 550,000 tons of crude oil.
