Vietnam becomes RoK’s 10 th largest export market

VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnam has emerged as the 10th biggest export market of the Republic of Korea (RoK), the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra), has announced.

The RoK exported goods worth 4.5 billion USD to
Vietnam in the first half of this year, up 78 percent from a year earlier, the state-run export agency’s reported on August 16.
Accordingly,
Vietnam’s rank among the RoK’s markets climbed to 10th from 13th last year, when the RoK shipped 5.8 billion USD worth of goods to the Southeast Asian country.
Among the exports in the first half of 2008, petroleum products accounted for the largest part, 30 percent, as their exports reached 1.4 billion USD. Automobile exports represented 380 million USD, or 8.4 percent. Textile and steel plate exports reached 270 million USD and 260 million USD respectively, accounting for around 6 percent each.
Meanwhile, the RoK imported 1 billion USD worth of goods from
Vietnam in the reviewed period, marking a trade surplus of 3.5 billion USD with the Southeast Asian country, according to the Kotra.
