VietNamNet BridgeVietnam is among nations which have robust IT development speed, but it is facing a problem: a shortage of hi-class IT experts.

A survey conducted in 12 countries in Asia and the Pacific by the International Data Group (IDG) shows that this region will lack 221,000 network technology experts by 2009. Therefore, network technology and security experts will be very “valuable”.

The shortage will be more serious in developing countries that have fast IT development speeds like Vietnam, according to the survey.

Vijay K. Thadani, Chief Executive Officer of the global NIIT, said that without being updated with new techniques and skills, an IT expert will lag behind the development of IT.

He said Java and Solaris are the fastest-developing technologies and most widely used in the world. The training of these technologies has been implemented in many countries for many years. But in Vietnam, the application and training of Java and Solaris is still modest. Thadani said opening training courses on these technologies will help create many employment opportunities for young Vietnamese people and deal with the shortage of hi-class IT human resources in Vietnam.

The CEO also said Vietnam will be the destination of IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) capital sources. Hence, the training of international human resources will help speed up Vietnam’s process of attracting IT investment.

NIIT will cooperate with Sun Microsystems to offer Java and Solaris training courses in Vietnam.
