On display will be a wide range of products, including energy-saving home appliances as well as equipment, technology and production lines used in the apparel, leather shoe, dyeing, plastics, transport, porcelain and pottery and food processing industries.

A variety of software solutions and Vietnam’s notable achievements in the areas of energy and energy-saving technology over the past two decades of renewal will also be featured at the fair.
The fair is viewed as a valuable opportunity for participating businesses to introduce their ranges of energy-saving products to local consumers.

Vietnam aims to meet international standards by 2010

Vietnam plans to completely transform its standards system to become compatible with the global system by the end of 2010.
The plan was announced at a meeting to celebrate World Standards Day (Oct. 14) in Hanoi on Oct. 8.
The Vietnamese Government has encouraged local and foreign individuals, organisations and overseas Vietnamese to participate in establishing standards and technical criteria as well as investing in activities related to this field, head of the national standards watchdog Ngo Quy Viet said.
Viet also affirmed that the Government has encouraged the expansion of international cooperation in the field of standards and technical criteria, with respect to equality and mutual benefit.
This year’s World Standards Day is themed “Intelligent and Sustainable Buildings”, aiming to achieve a level of standardisation throughout the construction industry, a sector that has a huge influence upon the nation’s economy, society and the environment.

Regional business forum on environment protection

More than 200 Vietnamese and foreign managers, scientists and businessmen discussed economic development, green industries or climate change at the East Asian business forum in Hanoi on Oct. 8.
The forum was held on the sideline of the 1st East Asian Environmental Ministers’ Meeting.
The participants presented 28 reports focusing on pressing issues such as the various aspects of cleaner production and environment-friendly technology as well as pollution treatment and sustainable development.
Furthermore, they discussed what role companies could play in the field of environmental protection.

The forum will submit a general report to the East Asian Environmental Ministers’ Meeting, affirming businesses’ commitment to strive for the target of sustainable development in the region.
