Numerous local people gathered in front of the Sport Hall Event to welcome international guests. 300 students of Vung Tau secondary school in traditional white long dresses and sporting uniforms with Vietnam flags and other countries’ hands in hands together in the from courtyard to the reception lobby to greet the athletes delegations with a friendly smiles.
Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili, Vice President of the World Youth Federation; Mr. Ignatius Leong, Secretary General of the World Chess Federation ... along with nearly 1,000 domestic and international guests and 903 athletes from 72 countries, regions of 5 continents also attend the Opening Ceremony in joy, encouragement. 20:30pm, starting with a part of solemn rituals to welcome the Opening Ceremony took place.
Mr Tran Minh Sanh, Chairman of the provincial People"s Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Head of the Organization Board of the World Youth Chess Championships 2008 read the greetings and officially declared the opening of the World Youth Chess Championships 2008 in Vung Tau.
In the charming introduction of 2 MCs Phuong Thao and Anh Quan (Ho Chi Minh City Television Station) to delegations with national flags of 72 countries and regions participating in the championship. After that, the etiquette of flag salutation began.
The program of Opening Ceremony took place eventfully and youthfully with the drum opening and performance of singer Ho Quynh Huong. The program continued with performances of traditional long dresses designed by Vo Viet Chung, Ho Chi Minh City, for 2 former Miss and Mrs. Performance of Miss Vietnam, Vietnam models, nice songs, dances...
21:50pm, the first fireworks opened in applauses. The fireworks lasted for 15 minutes with colorful, beautiful and attractive images.
Ms. Luong Thi Man resides in Le Hong Phong street, said: "This is the big event for Ba Ria – Vung Tau in particular and Vietnam in general. I am very proud because we have enough ability to organize such international event. I think that this is a good opportunity to introduce impressive and friendly image of Ba Ria – Vung Tau as well as Vietnam to domestic and international ".

At 18:30pm, 19 October, from 16 hotels in Vung Tau city, the fleet with 903 athletes participating to the World Youth Chess Championships 2008 drove along streets Thuy Van, 3-2, Hoang Hoa Tham, Vo Thi Sau ... to the Sport Event Hall of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to attend the Opening Ceremony.
