VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnamese National Institute of Software and Digital Content was launched in Hanoi on Oct. 27.

The institute was established under the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 901/2007/QD-TTg and commenced operations in May 2008, with Dr. Hoang Le Minh working as the Institute Director.
It will carry out research projects and participate in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and developmental projects for highly-skilled personnel in the IT and communications industries, and the development and transfer of technology in the production of software and other digital products, as well as supplying a range of industry-relevant services.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan sent a letter of greetings to the institute, expressing his hope that the institute will combine its efforts with other Vietnamese institutes in order to carry out research and design a range of software products at lower costs than those that are currently imported, to be used in various agencies, businesses and schools. The institute is expected to help accelerate the development of the Vietnamese software industry, along with increasing the production of outsourced software for export.
Over the past five months, the institute has completed its recruitment of qualified, managerial-level and skilled workers. It has been contracted to carry out a ministerial-level research project, plus a further project in conjunction with Microsoft
Vietnam’s Fund for Software Industry Development.
On this occasion, the institute signed memorandums of understanding on cooperation with the US-based company, Laserfiche, the Canadian company QGS and
Japan’s T-SS Security Systems.

It also committed itself to long-term comprehensive cooperation with the Vietnam Business and Software Association.
