Vietnam, Austria cooperate in health technology

VietNamNet BridgeVietnam and Austria signed an agreement on technological cooperation in healthcare in Hanoi on Nov. 4.

The agreement was signed by Vietnamese Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and Christa Kranzl, Austrian State Secretary at the Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology during the latter’s official visit to Vietnam. Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam, representatives of the Austrian Consulate General in Hanoi witnessed the signing.

Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in long-distance medical treatment, medical equipment supply for the central cancer hospital (K Hospital) and the
Hanoi Medical College, building a 400-bed private hospital and disease diagnosis centre in HCM City. They will also cooperate in managing and treating hospital waste, upgrading the Hue central hospital and providing equipment for provincial hospitals.
At the signing ceremony, the two sides also discussed potentials for cooperation and support in healthcare between the two countries.

Austria has provided 8.66 million EUR as soft loan for the Vietnamese healthcare sector to upgrade the Vietnam Cardiovascular Institute, and official development assistance totaling tens of thousand of euros as technical equipment support for the Tan Trieu establishment of the K Hospital.
