Hanoi University of Technology to join ACM/ICPC 2008 finals

This is the second year that the Hanoi University of Technology becomes Vietnam’s representative at the finals of the International Programming Contest for Students, ACM/ICPC 2008 in Stockholm, Sweden next April.

The ACM/ICPC regional contest in Asia finished on Sunday at the Thong Nhat Palace, HCM City. The Zodiac team from China’s Zhejiang University passed 108 teams from other Asian universities to be the champion.

The other team that will join the final round with Zodiac is TheLastChance from the Hanoi University of Technology. The Vietnamese and Chinese teams solved eight mathematical problems using algorithm and programming, winning eight points. However, the Chinese team came 15 minutes earlier than the Vietnamese team.

Two teams that won the first prizes are the HCMUS-Vision from the HCM City University for Natural Sciences and the team from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

 

In the IT Olympiad for Vietnamese students, which took place at the same time with the ACM/ICPC, Pham Tuan Vu from the HCM City University for Natural Sciences won the gold cup while the Hanoi University of Technology won the first prize for open source software contest and the HCM City Teacher Training University took the first prize for Micromouse.
