First Vietnamese Professor receives CNRS’s gold medal

VietNamNet Bridge - A gold medal was awarded by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) to Professor Nguyen Van Hieu yesterday in Hanoi for his excellent contribution to science, especially in the fields of quantum theory and theory of solids.

The award is the highest scientific honor France bestows to foreign scientists who make outstanding contributions to the international scientific community in general and to that of their own country in particular.
The award is also aimed at strengthening the relationship between French science and other countries.
Prof. Nguyen Van Hieu is an author of more than 200 published scientific papers. He is the first Vietnamese scientist to be awarded a CNRS’ gold medal.
Founded in 1939, CNRS is the largest governmental research organization in
France and also the largest science agency in Europe
