The final round of the 10th Eureka Scientific and Technological Research Awards for Students 2008 will take place from December 3-5 in HCM City, the organizers announced.
The awards for HCM City students will be presented to outstanding research works in the four fields of education, arts, architecture-planning and construction, and natural resources and environment instead of seven fields of the past.
The 75 final submissions are selected from a total of 413 works of students from 27 universities and colleges in HCM City.
The field that has the highest number of research works is economics, with 132 submissions while planning-architecture and construction attracts just nine works, the lowest number.
Nguyen Cong Tinh, Director of the Young Sci-tech Development Centre and the organizer of Eureka, said the number of sci-tech works going to the Eureka finals has increased in both number and quality compared to 2007.
In 2007, only 56 out of 373 submissions entered the finals. In terms of quality, many final works are appreciated to be very practical and highly applicable.
Tinh said Eureka 2008 has expanded to four more fields to attract students of various fields. This year Eureka organizers will also introduce students’ excellent research works and young talent scientists to businesses and help contestants to participate in sci-tech programs in HCM City.
The awards ceremony of Eureka 2008 will be held in December.
