The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on Jan. 14 held a get-together to mark the 59th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic ties (Jan. 18, 1950-Jan. 18, 2009).

The Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, Sun Gouxiang, and his wife, as well as representatives from Vietnamese ministries and central agencies were present at the event.
Speaking at the function, President of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association, Doan Manh Giao, stressed that the long-lasting relationship between Vietnam and China has laid a firm foundation for a broad strategic partnership under the motto “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability and looking towards the future” and in the spirit of “good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, and good partners”.
Key agencies of both countries have tightened their cooperation in various fields, such as national defence, public security, diplomacy and trade, for mutual benefit, he added. Chinese Ambassador Sun Gouxiang expressed his thanks for the VUFO’s contributions to strengthening bilateral ties over the years.
He affirmed that the building of a comprehensive strategic partnership has helped to elevate Vietnam-China relations to a new height.

The Vietnam-China relationship is considered a valuable asset of the Party, Government and people of the two countries, so it is essential to boost cooperation and consolidate mutual trust for the sake of both sides, he noted.
