17 clubs join in Kite Festival

An international kite festival, entitled “The Dance of the East Sea,” will be held in the northern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau from March 26 to 29.

The event will be based at two locations, the Ho Tram Beach Resort & Spa in Xuyen Moc district, and the Bien Dong (Ocean Park) in Vung Tau City, Nguyen Van Son, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, announced at a press conference on Feb. 26.

According to Son, who is also a senior member of the organising board, participants from at least 17 clubs of 17 countries, including India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the US, have registered to participate in the festival, with about 300 kites of all kinds, making it the biggest ever national event for kite enthusiasts.

Indonesia

, a veteran of 20 kite festivals around the world, plans to send eight artists to Vietnam along with a vast huge kite measuring 275 metres in length.
