Fifteen departments of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s government are now using eOffice software, with four others ready to apply it later this year.

This usage comes after two years of applying information technology in government offices to improve efficiency and communication.

According to Nguyen Nhu Hai, chief of the Department of Transport, officials have become accustomed to IT and enjoy using it.

"The software has saved the amount of paper we used by 70 per cent," Hai said.

eOffice is a type of electronic office software with various functions, including sending messages and supplying guidance to implementation of plans via the local area network (LAN).

"With the system, users can compile as well as approve documents in accordance with a set process," said Le Thi Hoa, manager of the Department of Information and Communications’ Information Technology Office, one of the first officials who introduced eOffice software to the province’s leaders.

According to Nguyen Van Tru, director of the Department of Information and Communications, Ba Ria-Vung Tau authorities have used the eOffice-software to solve administrative procedures and state agencies’ internal affairs.

The software is a product of Bach Khoa Internetwork Security center (Bkis), used in 214 agencies and enterprises.
