HCMC Teacher Training University tops Robocon 2009

The final matches of Robocon Vietnam 2009 took place on the evening of May 17 in the central city of Hue. SPK-KNIGHT from the HCM City Teacher Training University won first prize and will attend the Asia-Pacific Robocon competition in Tokyo, Japan in August.

The final matches of Robocon Vietnam 2009 took place on the evening of May 17 in the central city of Hue. SPK-KNIGHT from the HCM City Teacher Training University won first prize and will attend the Asia-Pacific Robocon competition in Tokyo, Japan in August.

The final night opened with the match between the two teams from the the HCM City Teacher Training University, SPK-KNIGHT and SPK-MEC. SPK-KNIGHT defeated its “friend” to enter the semi-final.

The following matches were the competitions between ICE-TEA and SUN WARD from the Hung Yen Technological Teacher Training University, BK-AMT from the HCM City Polytechnic University and SQ01 from the School for Information Technology Officers, 07 STAR of the HCM City-based Lac Hong University and Hong Ha CTM of the Military Technology Institute.

SPK-NIGHT, BK-AMT, SUN WARD and Hong Ha CTM entered the semi-finals.

In this round, SPK-KNIGHT vied with BK-AMT and SUN WARD faced Hong Ha CTM.

In the first match, BK-AMT got a good start but after several seconds, SPK-KNIGHT made a breath-through and became the winner in the 30th second. In the other match, Hong Ha CTM finished in the 38th second.

The final match between SPK-KNIGHT and Hong Ha CTM finished with the victory going to the team from HCM City. SPK-KNIGHT will represent Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific Robocon 2009 in Japan this August.

BK-AMT: Third prize of VND15 million and VND10 million Best Automatic Robot Prize

SQ01: VND10 million Best Manually-controlled Robot Prize

07 STAR: VND10 million Style Prize

ICE-TEA: VND10 million Idea Prize

SPK-KNIGHT: First prize of VND40 million, VND10 million Best Playing Solution Prize, VND10 million prize of the Ministry of Science and Technology, US$1,000 award of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting and Information Association

“After finishing in the 30th second in the match against BK-AMT, we knew that we would be the champion of Robocon 2009,” SKP-KNIGHT’s team leader Phan Van Nam told VietNamNet.

Nam said that after this contest, the team will improve their robot to prepare for the regional Robocon competition in Japan in August.
