An awards ceremony for the “IT competition for young people” has been held in Hanoi Municipal Theatre.

An awards ceremony for the “IT competition for young people” has been held in Hanoi Municipal Theatre.

The ceremony, on July 30, attracted 221 contestants from 49 provinces and 3 departments across the country.

In the group of primary school childrens, Le Tu Thanh Nhan from  Central Da Nang City won first prize. 3 second prizes, 8 third prizes and 17 consolation prices went to other contestants.

In  the group of lower secondary school children, one first prize was taken by Vu Dinh Dat from northeastern Quang Ninh province.

One first prize of for the group of upper secondary school children went to Vo Anh Duy and Nguyen Hoang Phuong from southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

In the designing new software contest two first prizes were won by Pham Thanh Tuan and Nguyen Dinh Tri Cuong, both from Da Nang and another by first-prize by Vo Ly Minh Nhan from southern Binh Thuan province.

The IT competition for young people is annually co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam Television and the Vietnam Association of Information Processing, and was first held in 1995.

For over 15 years, the competition has attracted more than 2,300 candidates many of whom are from remote areas around the country. A lots of talent has been discovered.

This year’s competition drew a record number of 221 contestants, with two of the youngest born in 2000. 67 new products have also been created.

According to the judges, this year’s products focused on various topics like study forums, environmental protection and library work.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister granted certificates of merit to 13 teams and individuals who have made great contribution to IT studies amongst young people.

Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s central Committee also granted “for young generation” medals to 51 individual for their contribution to the competition since 1995.
