On October 26, the delegation of the United States Department of Energy had a working session with leaders of the provincial People’s Committee on the implementation of "Megaports initiative” in Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Mr. Ho Van Nien, Deputy Chairman welcomed the delegation.

Megaports Initiative aims to strengthen capacity of review, prevention of radioactive substances and nuclear ... in the import-transportation, transshipment at seaports. There are now 27 major seaports around the world participated in this initiative. Accordingly, the U.S Security Agency will provide control equipment to and technical expertise. In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, initiative -oriented object is the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port area, in order to ensure transnational maritime security.

Mr. Ho Van Nien assigned the provincial Customs Department to work specifically with the delegation of the U.S. Department of Energy to provide relevant information and discuss measures to implement.
