CLOSE DIFFICULTIES
There has never been a year like 2009, industrial activities had to face with difficulties. However, by the end of 2009, the situation of industrial production in the province was better. Notably, some products declined earlier this year have prospered again as steel increases by 0.4% (Quarter I decreased 50.4%); raises 8.7% (Quarter I decreased 10%)…
Processing industry was suffered the most damages, due to being affected by the output products and input materials. Domestic raw materials were significantly reduced together with the tightening export control from the European market made aquaculture enterprises floundered. Garment industry also faced with difficulties since all imported raw materials and exported products were subject to foreign markets. However, export output, generally in the year 2009, still increased as compared with year 2008, though prices drastically reduced.
Steel industry was also affected by the crisis. Bluescope Steel Company is a typical example, only produced less than 40% in early 2009 and had to cut down more than 100 employees. However, at this time, BlueScope Steel Co. has launched the promising plans thanks to transparent market.
PROSPERITY SIGNALS
Standing at this point to look for in 2010, many enterprises confidently predicted situation of business and will operate smoothly. It is a good signal for a flourishing new year.
Dong Phuong Company specializing in sport shoes, tennis balls ... at the Dong Xuyen Industrial Zone has been still running at its full capacity so far. The company leaders said that source of the production contract is take full care of by the mother company in Taiwan, so the company does not fear of no contract.
Notably, some enterprises which have great production value have been regained their strong growth momentum. Phu My Fertilizer Plant, where produce nearly 40% of the total fertilizer nationwide, stated that in 2009, the plant completed the plan of 750,000 tons/ year. The 2010 plan of the unit will be higher since the plant is implementing a number of technical measures in order to increase production capacity of the plant. The cement industry will also accelerate its production activities of the two mills - Holcim plant and Cam Pha plant. Co. Holcim Vietnam Company is expected to produce 1.234 million tons; an increase over the total output in 2009 was 1.022 million tons.
