A TV channel on agriculture and the countryside will go on the air in April to serve 70 percent of Vietnam’s population.

A TV channel on agriculture and the countryside will go on the air in April to serve 70 percent of Vietnam’s population.

The channel will be managed by the Ministry of Information and Communications, in combination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Farmers’ Association, the Alliance of Vietnam Scientific and Technological Associations and 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam. According to Minister Le Doan Hop, the channel is designed for farmers only.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan noted that this is a state-funded channel and it will buy programs from different producers, depending on quality and price.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has assigned VTC Group to research and apply the three-dimension TV technology and also to develop a social network for Vietnam.
