Hundreds of colorful kites in strange shapes filled the skies above Vung Tau in the second international kite festival held by the Department of the Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria – Vung Tau.

The festival titled “Legend – Millennium”, which is organized by Vung Tau city from March 24-29, drew 80 aficionados from six kite clubs in Ba Ria – Vung Tau (two teams), as well as one team each from HCM City, Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai and Binh Duong and kite artisans from 26 countries and territories.

At 8am, the kite artisans were present at Bien Dong resort to perform with their odd kites, attracting hundreds of tourists.

Today, March 25, kite artisans will fly 1000 kites, including 100 made by artisans and 900 by students, to celebrate the 1000^th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.

Mr.Tran Tuan Viet, deputy head of the event’s organizing board, said kite troupes from and territories will present their traditional and modern kites on the city’s beaches during the event.

Vungtau city held the first kite festival in March last year. Three to four hundred kites were took part in the three-day event.
