Deputy PM Hùng made the statement at his recent separate working sessions in the Netherlands with his Dutch counterpart Andre Rouvoet and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs; Transport, Public Works and Water Management; and Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.

The Deputy PM, who led an inter-ministerial delegation to the Netherlands, briefed the hosts of Việt Nam’s measures to cope with climate change, natural disasters, floods and tides in the country over the past years.

Both the hosts and guest considered strategic and sustainable bilateral cooperation programs for the next 50 to 100 years, particularly in the Red River Delta, Mekong Delta and the coastal areas.

Both sides also discussed the exchange of visits by high-ranking delegations in the coming time.

The European country introduced the guests of its politics, law, socio-economics, technology and its organization of bodies against climate change as well as its history of combating climate change and rising sea level as one-third of its territory lying below sea level.

They welcomed Việt Nam’s proposals, especially devising adaption schemes for the Mekong Delta and Hồ Chí Minh City.

The Netherlands proposed Việt Nam to involve in the International Delta Alliance (IDA) and attend an international conference on agriculture and climate change slated for November in the country.

While in the Netherlands, the Vietnamese delegation discussed with the Dutch senior officials and leading experts about orientations for bilateral cooperation in climate change and water management at a seminar on the field.
