Earlier, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said the rubber sector in May met some difficulties due to lower imports from China- the biggest rubber market. Rubber exports in May, 2010 fell by 26% in value from the previous month.
However, this market has recovered from this and revealed some positive signs. The exports increased 141% in volume and 138% in value from the previous month. Thus, in the first six months of 2010, Vietnam has exported more than 239 thousand tones of rubber, worth 656.4 million USD, declining by 5.3% in quantity but increasing by 82.6% in value against the same period of 2009.
The export prices of rubber tend to reduce in the recent time. In June the price was 2830 USD per tonne mean while the figure of April and May was 2900 USD per ton and 2864 USD per tonne respectively. However when compared to the same period of last year, rubber export prices are reasonably higher.
