Afternoon, 21 July, the Provincial Appraisal Council chaired by Mr. Tran Minh Sanh, Chairman of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province – had adopted the master plan of Con Dao ‘s social - economic development - until 2020.

As per the master plan of social - economic development until 2020, Con Dao will be developed under the regime of special territory, become the sustainable, high-quality service and tourism economic zone , and in the long run as an ecotourism, historical and cultural tourism urban area; Con Dao will be formed to commensurate with the position of the outpost, contributing positively in the process of opening, international economic integration, national order, security and defense, closely link with the development of the Southeast of Vietnam. The planning sets out the targets to 2015 that is to attract 64,000 visitors /year and increase to 150,000 visitors/year by 2020. Preserve and promote biodiversity, exploitation and use of natural resources rationally and increase the value of national forests. Along with the suggestions of the Appraisal Council, Mr. Tran Minh Sanh requested the consultancy units to pay attention to add some problems in the overall plan of the social - economic development of Con Dao until 2020, including local human resources, health system, water and waste treatment system, environmental protection. Also, consider investing resources for Con Dao. The Province petition to the Government to make decision of the master plan of Con Dao to 2020, and a vision to 2030 instead of the provincial People’s Committee, as for Cao Dao has its own characteristics.
