New stride in VN-Russia energy cooperation

Việt Nam and Russia are going to sign an agreement on building Việt Nam’s first nuclear power plant, said Sergey Kirienko, Chairman of Russia’s Atomic Energy Group (Rosatom).

The agreement will be signed by relevant agencies of the two countries on the occasion of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Việt Nam in late October, Mr. Kirienko said when being received by Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải yesterday in Hà Nội.

The agreement will be signed by relevant agencies of the two countries on the occasion of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Việt Nam in late October, Mr. Kirienko said when being received by Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải yesterday in Hà Nội.

The Deputy PM highly appreciated efforts and results of negotiations of the relevant agencies, as well as the role of Rosatom in preparing for contents of the agreement.

Rosatom will spare no effort to implement the project on schedule, strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners in relevant fields such as technology, fuel, finance, training staff for the power plant, and establishment of an atomic energy research institute and a training center in Việt Nam, said Mr. Kirienko,
