IAEA to increase to support Vietnam in ensuring nuclear safety

On 08 November, 2010 Dr. Ngo Dang Nhan – Director General (DG) of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS) received and worked with Mr. Dazhu Yang – Director of the Asia-Pacific Division under the Department of Technical Cooperation, IAEA.

Participating in the working day are leaders of VARANS and leaders of VARANS divisions. DG Ngo Dang Nhan presented to Mr. Dazhu Yang about State management system in nuclear energy and functions , activities of VARARANS as regulatory body in radiation and  nuclear safety as well as cooperation activities with IAEA in the recent years. He also appreciated significant achievements from assistance of IAEA for Vietnam in general and VARANS in particular and such as training, technical assistance, …

                              

Mr. Dazhu Yang stressed that Vietnam is one of the important countries in the region and the Vietnam nuclear power plant program give to VARANS new opportunities and challenges because safety is primary factor that decide success of nuclear power program. He said IAEA will increase to support Vietnam in ensuring nuclear safety.

During this working week in Vietnam, Mr.  Dazhu Yang will work with the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VAEI), Nuclear Research Institute, Ho Chi Minh city Oncology Center and Research and Development Center for Radiation Technology (Vinagamma).
